Is it necessary for bunkers to be visible from the tee? How about only tops of bunkers? Completely non visible? Did golf bunkers originate from War bunkers in the battlefield? Were battlefield bunkers visible?
Variety is the spice of life and that is true with the elements of golf architecture especially bunkers. Visible from the tee or not visible both have their place and can make situations interesting dictating thought before a golf shot.
I like to use bunkers as targets so I prefer to see them. However, I don’t mind if they are hidden.
