Rock Creek Cattle Company

A rare occurrence has come to pass at Rock Creek Cattle Company. An owner with means and a keen vision – Bill Foley, has engaged an architect – Tom Doak, who is one of the recognized leaders of the new golden age of golf course architecture. This course is arguably the best new private built in the last few years. While it is confusing how years and ratings are compiled, Golfweek says it is #1, Golf Digest #2, and Golf Magazine #4. Pasatiempo Golf Club

Pasatiempo was founded by U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion Marion Hollins and was designed by Alister Mackenzie, one of the great golden age golf course architects. The course opened on September 8th, 1929. Tom Doak was hired in 1996 to begin restoring Pasatiempo to its “original design” and the renovation was successfully completed in Fall 2007, with a great deal of assistance from his lead associate Jim Urbina, club historian Bob Beck and superintendent Dean Gump. Royal Oaks Country Club

There are a lot of things to really like about Royal Oaks from both a golf and country club perspective. A spectacular $7.2 million clubhouse and pro shop remodel has really modernized the club and will provide members with much improved amenities for years to come. The addition of a work out room to go along with the multiple pools and excellent restaurant will certainly attract new members, especially locals. Royal Oaks has a wonderful family and community spirit about it, that must make many other private clubs in the area jealous. The club’s solid junior program begins at age 5 and runs through high school which is commendable. Continue Reading

Pacific Dunes

Pacific Dunes was the second course to open at the Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, in 2001. Tom Doak, and the team at Renaissance Golf Design, knew that Mike Keiser had handed them one of the most spectacular sites for a golf course in the past 50 years. The property exceeded the one found next door at Bandon Dunes, which meant the playing experience should be superior as well, and it is. Continue Reading

Bandon Trails

Bandon Trails was the third course constructed at the resort, and it is the only one that does not touch the ocean. Instead, Trails takes the golfer through dunes, meadows and forest in a wonderful golfing journey that has been exquisitely routed by Bill Coore. While Bandon Trails is the most challenging walk at the resort, it is well worth the effort. Continue Reading
