Hello, new member here and I look forward to meeting the participants at the Ocala Golf Club gathering next month. I played Ocala Golf Club for the first time this past Monday, and I am impressed with the condition of this high traffic municipal layout. However, on this day the greens were quite hard and several approach shots from the threesome that I was playing with ended up on the back of the green or over the back. It was the first time that any of us had played the course. The course is a little more hilly than I expected but certainly not a problem to walk. The 16th hole has the largest grade up from the tee. I was disappointed to see only one other player walking, and it was an older woman. My group teed off at 7:36 and when we finished at about 11:45 their entire fleet of carts were out.
Yardage/(men’s)ratings are as follows:
Orange 6,552 70.3/121
Blue 5,914 68.1/116 – we played from the blue tees.
Silver 5,515 66.4/111
Green 5,027 63.1/104
Yellow 4,246 60.5/100
The front nine as three par 5’s and three par 3’s. The back nine has a more typical two each par 5’s and par 3’s. Just thought to share some information/observations about the course. Looking forward to playing this course a couple more times during the event next month. Tom
